Peter Bauer is co-founder and former CEO of Mimecast, which he launched in 2003. A pioneer of the company’s SaaS strategy, he built Mimecast into a global leader in email security and cyber resilience, delivering integrated solutions for security, archiving, and business continuity through a single cloud platform. Under his leadership, the company achieved strong growth and served tens of thousands of customers worldwide.

Originally from South Africa, Peter began his career as a Microsoft systems engineer, working with corporate messaging systems before founding Mimecast in the UK and later expanding the business into North America. He relocated to Boston in 2011 to lead that growth.

Yolanda Coentro is President and CEO of the Institute for Nonprofit Practice, where she leads efforts to equip social impact leaders with the skills, networks, and confidence to advance their missions. Under her leadership, INP has expanded its nationally recognized programs and launched initiatives like the Black Leadership Institute, deepening impact in leadership development and advancing racial and gender equity.

A widely recognized sector leader, Yolanda has been named to The NonProfit Times’ “Power & Influence Top 50” and Boston Business Journal’s “Power 50.” She has also received the SCI Idealist Award, the Moakley Public Service Award, and the Barr Fellowship.

Prior to INP, she held leadership roles at several Boston-area nonprofits and continues to advise organizations on strategy and equity.

Steve Crosby served most recently as the Founding Chair of the Mass Gaming Commission, and was before that the Founding Dean of the McCormack Graduate School of Policy and Global Studies at UMass Boston.

His public sector career has included serving as Chief of Staff to Governor Jane Swift and as Secretary of Administration and Finance under Governor Paul Cellucci. His private sector career was distinguished by serving as CEO of innovative, entrepreneurial companies in publishing and high tech, including The Crosby Vandenbergh Group, SmartRoute Systems and Interactive Radio Corp. An earlier career in politics included serving as Campaign Manager for Massachusetts Governor Frank Sargent and Boston Mayor Kevin H. White.

In addition to The Civic Action Project, Steve remains active in the responsible gaming world as recent Chair of the Advisory Board of the National Council on Problem Gambling and Board member of the Mass Council on Gaming and Health, and is active in other non-profits and political campaigns. He is a graduate of Harvard College and Boston University Law School.

As Chief Executive Officer, Stephen oversees the day-to-day management and strategic direction of all aspects of Davis’ vertically integrated platform, spanning firm-wide investment, execution and capital strategies, operational oversight, organizational leadership, and key stakeholder relationships.

Stephen is an active member of real estate industry organizations PREA, ULI, and NAIOP, where he serves as a member of the Board Management Committee. An active member of Boston’s nonprofit sector, Stephen also serves as a Board member for The Boch Center and Heading Home.

Stephen received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Colgate University, a Juris Doctor degree from the Georgetown University Law Center and a Master of Science in Real Estate Development (MSRED) degree from the MIT Center for Real Estate.

Rahn is a researcher, policymaker, and strategist whose career has focused on systems change and civic innovation. At the Foundation, he plays a key leadership role advancing approaches to economic mobility and inclusion, as well as guiding efforts on measurement, evaluation, and learning. As a strategic grantmaker, he is helping the team make meaningful investments across all our strategy areas.

Prior to joining Eastern, Rahn served as the Chief of Education for the City of Boston, having worked as part of Mayor Martin J. Walsh’s cabinet from September 2014 to November 2018. He spent the first half of his career at Abt Associates as a senior researcher and at the Barr Foundation serving as its first Evaluation Director and a Senior Program Officer in Education. Rahn is also the current board chair at the Benjamin Franklin Cummings Institute of Technology.

Yogesh Gupta is a seasoned technology leader and CEO of Progress, where he has driven innovation, expanded the company’s product portfolio, and strengthened its global market position since 2016. Under his leadership, Progress launched its AI strategy in 2017 and now supports more than 200,000 organizations worldwide with its software and AI infrastructure solutions.

Previously, Yogesh served as CEO of Kaseya and FatWire Software, where he doubled revenue and led a successful acquisition by Oracle. Earlier, he held senior leadership roles at CA Technologies, including Chief Technology Officer and head of strategy and M&A.

A 30-year industry veteran, Yogesh holds a patent in AI and serves on multiple nonprofit and industry boards.

Roy Hirshland is Co-Chair of the North American Brokerage Board at Savills, where he helps drive growth and cross-functional collaboration across the firm’s brokerage business. A passionate client advocate, he ensures workplace strategy and client outcomes remain central to Savills’ approach. He also leads the Boston office and chairs the firm’s Innovation Lab.

Since joining Savills in 2021, Roy has played a key role in launching the Boston Studio concept, tripling the office’s size. Previously, he co-founded and led T3 Advisors, advising leading life sciences and technology companies on complex real estate strategies.

With more than 30 years of experience, Roy has overseen over 10 million square feet of transactions globally and is widely recognized for his leadership and industry impact.

Ruthzee Louijeune is an attorney and City Councilor At-Large in Boston, known for her inclusive leadership and commitment to equity and shared prosperity. The daughter of Haitian immigrants, she was raised in Mattapan and Hyde Park and educated in Boston Public Schools. Her early civic engagement included youth leadership roles and work on education policy initiatives.

As a lawyer, Ruthzee has represented families in housing court, supported voting rights cases before the U.S. Supreme Court, and worked on national criminal justice reform efforts. She also served as a senior attorney on Elizabeth Warren’s presidential campaign and helped secure millions for first-generation homeowners.

The first Haitian American elected citywide in Boston, she focuses on housing, education, and immigrant support.

Juana Matias is a lifelong advocate for expanding access to safe, stable housing and economic opportunity. She currently serves as Secretary of the Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities for Massachusetts, leading efforts to increase housing supply, reduce costs, and support community development and homelessness prevention programs statewide.

Previously, she was Regional Administrator for New England at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, where she oversaw federal housing initiatives across six states. She also served as Chief Operating Officer of MassINC and as a state representative for Lawrence in the Massachusetts House, becoming one of the first Latina immigrants elected to the legislature.

An attorney by training, she began her career advocating for low-income immigrant families and continues to focus on equitable access to housing and opportunity.

Dan Noyes is a nonprofit executive and civic leader with more than 25 years of experience across the nonprofit, education, and government sectors. He has worked closely with corporate, philanthropic, and government leaders to build durable partnerships and drive systems-level change, particularly in digital access, education, and economic mobility.

Earlier in his career, Dan served as a Legislative Aide in Washington, D.C., and worked within Boston Public Schools. For more than a decade he was CEO of Tech Goes Home, a nationally recognized digital equity nonprofit. His leadership has earned national recognition, with his work featured in outlets including The New York Times and The Boston Globe. He is also a frequent speaker at national conferences and philanthropic forums.

Dan’s honors include the Charles Benton Digital Equity Champion Award and the ELL Families Empowerment Award. He is the proud father of two daughters and remains committed to building a more connected, equitable future.

Dan Rivera is the immediate past President of MassDevelopment and former two-term Mayor of Lawrence. At MassDevelopment, he expanded lending to more diverse businesses and regions, advanced major real estate projects, and helped launch initiatives including the Transformative Development Initiative expansion and the Massachusetts Community Climate Bank.

As mayor, Dan led Lawrence through significant fiscal and civic turnaround—improving finances, reducing crime, increasing housing development, and restoring the city’s bond rating while emerging from state oversight. He also guided the city through the Merrimack Valley Gas Crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic, contributing to statewide reopening and vaccine planning efforts.

A U.S. Army veteran, Dan serves on several nonprofit boards and continues to support economic opportunity and community development across Massachusetts.

Sarah Stanton is the Vice President of Government and Regulatory Affairs at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts. She is an experienced leader with nearly two decades of service in government.

Sarah Stanton was appointed Undersecretary of Economic Affairs for the Commonwealth in 2023, where she focused on advancing the state’s workforce and competitiveness agenda.

Prior to that, Sarah served as Town Manager in Bedford and held several key municipal leadership roles, including Budget Director for the City of Cambridge, Finance Director and City Auditor for the City of Salem, and other municipal positions in the Town of Ipswich, City of Woburn, and City of Haverhill. She is also an adjunct professor in city planning, political science, and public administration graduate programs at Boston University, Merrimack College, and Northeastern University.

Ayla Thorntona is the Legislative Director for State Senator Sal DiDomenico. Prior to this position, Ayla was Senator DiDomenico’s Legislative Aide for almost two years.

Before joining the team, she interned with United States Representative Tony Cárdenas where she was dedicated to serving California’s 29th district. Ayla also worked as a policy fellow with Boston City Councilor Andrea Campbell’s office working on comprehensive criminal justice reform and working closely with constituents from Mattapan, Jamaica Plain, and Dorchester to help address their concerns.

Ayla received her B.A. in Political Science and Spanish at the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2020 and her Master of Public Policy degree from UMass Amherst.
